How we’re preparing to adapt to the FCC’s new “one-to-one” rule when it comes to lead capture

If you’re a lead generator, then there’s a good chance that you’ve heard about the FCC’s new one-to one rule.

And if you’re capturing leads, but haven’t, then you should read this post.

I’ve been getting lots of questions about the FCC’s new “one-to-one” rule, especially how LeadCaptureIO plans to adapt.

After diving deeper into it, here’s a quick summary of what this rule is and why it matters:

What is The FCC’s One-to-One Rule?

Here’s an overview in a nutshell.

– Consumer Protection: It aims to prevent unwanted communications. For example, someone submits your form then gets contacted by a bunch of vendors that they weren’t aware of. Or even something simple as someone submitting your form and receiving unwanted communication from you! Yep… the FCC is cracking down on this.

– Explicit Consent: All businesses in the lead generation chain must now obtain explicit consent from consumers. This has always been a best practice but it’s now about to be more important than ever.

– Compliance Deadline: Businesses have until January 2025 to comply. And I’m going to do everything I can to help here.

– Increased Oversight: Lead gen forms must ensure proper consent before sharing leads. This could have a huge impact on conversion rates.

What this means for you:

If you’re generating leads for yourself, make sure you’re capturing and storing consent. It’s always been a best practice, but now it’s essential.

If you’re selling leads or gathering leads for multiple businesses or on behalf of a business, your forms need adjustments to meet the new consent requirements. Check back later for our recommendations.

What we’re working on at LeadCaptureIO:

– Lead Capture Forms with Consent Options: We’re building a feature that allows leads to select which businesses can contact them, helping you stay compliant while minimizing conversion rate impacts. We’ve got a pretty good flow in place and will be releasing more info soon!

– Automated TrustedForm Integration: We’ll be making ActiveProspect TrustedForm certifications even easier, automating the process so you can capture proof of consent without extra setup. Note: We already integrated with TrustedForm, but we’re going to make this entire process automatic

– Future Innovations: I’m exploring ways blockchain and smart contracts might add an extra layer of innovation and transparency long term—but more on that later!

This is our current understanding, but we’d love any additional insights if you have them! Please reach out to support@leadcapture.io if you have any questions, insights, or need any help in this area.
